Salaatul Eid

The Eid Prayer consists of two Rak`ahs.

In the first Rak`ah,  recite Surah of al-Fatihah and Surah Al A’ala.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

Praise the Name of your Lord, the Most High. He who creates and regulates. He who measures and guides. He who produces the pasture. And then turns it into light debris. We will make you read, so do not forget. Except what God wills. He knows what is declared, and what is hidden. We will ease you into the Easy Way. So remind, if reminding helps. The reverent will remember. But the wretched will avoid it. He who will enter the Gigantic Fire. Where he will neither die, nor live. Successful is he who purifies himself. And mentions the name of his Lord, and prays. But you prefer the present life. Though the Hereafter is better, and more lasting. This is in the former scriptures. The Scriptures of Abraham and Moses.

After the recitation of these Surahs, say the takbir “ٱللَّٰهُ أَكْبَرُ” (Allahu Akbar) five times and raise the hands for the Qunut five times after each takbir, saying as below:

In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

O Allah: You are the Lord of glory and greatness, And the Lord of magnanimity and omnipotence, And the Lord of pardon and mercy, And the worthiest of being feared and the Lord of forgiveness; I beseech You in the name of this day, which You have decided to be feast for the Muslims, And to be safety and increasing honor for Muhammad, peace of Allah be upon him and his Household, (I beseech You) that You may send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, And You may include me with every item of goodness with which You have included Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, And that You save me from any item of evil from which You have saved Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, May Your blessings be upon him and upon them. O Allah: I pray to You for the best of all that for which Your righteous servants have prayed to You, and I seek Your protection against all that against which Your righteous servants have asked Your protection.

You then say the takbeer for the sixth time, and do the ruku, and sujood

When you stand up for the second Rak`ah, recite Surah of al-Fatihah and Surah   As Shams

In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

I swear by the sun and its brilliance, And the moon when it follows the sun, And the day when it shows it, And the night when it draws a veil over it, And the heaven and Him Who made it, And the earth and Him Who extended it, And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; He will indeed be successful who purifies it, And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. Samood gave the lie [to the truth] in their inordinacy, When the most unfortunate of them broke forth with, So Allah’s messenger said to them [Leave alone] Allah’s she-camel, and [give] her [to] drink.

And then say the takbir four times and raise the hands for the Qunut after each takbir (four times).

After that, say the fifth takbir and complete the prayer with ruku, sujood and tashahud.
